Lux Oritur

A small quatrain — a finger-exercise more than a poem, but it scans, and I like saying it.

Post tenebras lux oritur,
et nox cedit aurorae;
spes nostra in Domino manet,
qui lucem mundo donat.

A plain rendering, line for line:

After darkness, light arises,
and night gives way to the dawn;
our hope remains in the Lord,
who gives light to the world.
